Zósimo Izquierdo Gil (born December 17, 1895, in Teruel; died July 30, 1936) was a Spanish Christian martyr and a blessed of the Catholic Church. Zósimo Gil was born on December 17, 1895, into a very religious family. He entered the seminary and was ordained a priest in 1920. He was arrested during the Spanish Civil War. While in prison, he encouraged his fellow inmates to pray the Rosary. He was shot on July 30, 1936; his body was exhumed in 1938 and buried in the cemetery in Castelserás. He was beatified on March 11, 2001, by Pope John Paul II as part of the group of José Aparicio Sanz and his companions.
