Biography

Valeria of Honnecourt was a virgin and a saint of the Catholic Church. She came from Honnecourt in Gaul (modern-day Honnecourt-sur-Escaut, France) and likely lived in the 7th century. Together with her sister Pollena, she led a pious life in the manner of a "domestic monastery," supported spiritually by their older brother Litfard, who was a bishop. Following their deaths, a Benedictine abbey (Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Honnecourt) was established in Honnecourt, where both sisters were venerated. They were also honored in Cambrai. Their relics were reportedly moved to Saint-Quentin at a later date. The liturgical feast of Saint Valeria is celebrated on October 8, often together with Saint Pollena.
