Biography

Waldalen (died c. 680) was the abbot of the monastery in Bèze. He was the eldest son of Amalgarius, Duke of the Burgundians. He was raised at Luxeuil Abbey under the guidance of Columbanus. He remained at the monastery during the tenure of the subsequent abbot, Eustasius. Around 630, he was sent by Eustasius to Bèze, where he became the head of the newly founded abbey. His feast day was celebrated on May 15.
