Biography

Vicente Sicluna Hernández (born September 30, 1859, in Navarrés; died September 22, 1936, in Bolbaite) was a Spanish blessed of the Catholic Church. He studied theology at the seminary in Valencia. He was ordained a priest in 1884 and became the parish priest in Navarrés. Following the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, he was shot in the neck on September 22, 1936, and died. Vicente Sicluna Hernández was beatified by Pope John Paul II on March 11, 2001, as a martyr killed in hatred of the faith (Latin: odium fidei) among the 232 companions of José Aparicio Sanz.
