Saint Tegfedd ach Amwn Ddu

Biography

Tegfedd was a 6th-century saint. She was the daughter of Amwn Ddu ab Emyr Llydaw, sister to Tydecho, and one of the family that fled Brittany and settled on the coast of Gwynedd with the permission of Maelgwn Gwynedd's family. A local chieftain wished to marry her, but Tegfedd refused and moved to the Mawddach valley in Meirionnydd. She is associated with Garthbeibio.
