Saint Sextius of Valence
Biography
Sextus of Valence, also known as Festus, was Bishop of Valence at the end of the 4th century. At that time, Valence was located in the Western Roman Empire, in the province of Gallia Lugdunensis. Chrocus, one of the kings of the Alamanni by that name, tortured Sextus to death. Sextus was venerated in Valence as a martyr and saint, as was later recorded in Avignon. Bishop Sextus was succeeded by Maximus I.
