Biography

Sébastien Nam I-gwan (Korean: 남이관 세바스티아노) was a Korean Christian layman and catechist, born in 1780 in Chungju, Chungcheong Province, Korea, and died on September 26, 1839, at Dangkogae near Seoul. Recognized as a martyr and beatified in 1925 by Pius XI, he was solemnly canonized in Seoul by Pope John Paul II on May 6, 1984, along with the other martyrs of Korea. Saint Sébastien Nam I-gwan is commemorated on September 26 and September 20.
