Saint Salvius mfiadini

Feast day: January 11

Biography

Salvius (died before 430 in Carthage) was an African Christian martyr and a saint of the Catholic Church. It is not known exactly when or where the martyr died for his faith. Donatists reportedly hung dead dogs around his neck and beat him to death with clubs. Saint Augustine of Hippo (died 430) honored him on the day of his death by delivering a eulogy to the people of Carthage. The liturgical memorial of Saint Salvius in the Catholic Church is celebrated on January 11 (according to the Calendarium Carthaginense). This martyr is often confused with the holy bishop of Amiens (died c. 615).
