Saint Sainte Émérance

Saint Sainte Émérance

Feast day: January 23

Biography

Emerentiana, also known as Emerentia, was a young martyr and a contemporary of Saint Agnes (early 4th century). From the beginning, the Greek Passion of Emerentiana has been part of the Latin Passion of Saint Agnes, which appears in the Bibliotheca hagiographica latina; this pseudo-Ambrosian Passion enriches the hagiographic legend of the two martyrs. She is commemorated on January 23 according to the Roman Martyrology.
