Saint Sainte Adeltrude

Feast day: March 19

Biography

Adeltrudis of Wintershoven (also known as Adeltrudis of Maastricht) was one of the saints of Wintershoven. Adeltrudis was a daughter of Saint Bavo and lived in the 7th century. After her father converted to Christianity, Adeltrudis went to live on Bavo's estate in Wintershoven, where she led a life of virginity. Landoaldus became her spiritual guide, and Adeltrudis assisted him in founding a monastic school in Wintershoven, as well as in the founding of the Abbey of Munsterbilzen by Landrada. She was canonized in the 8th century along with the others. Her feast day is March 19.
