Saint Saint Éreptiole
Biography
Saint Ereptiolus (born c. 400, died 473) was the first bishop of Coutances in the 5th century (c. 430–474). He evangelized the local pagans and had a first wooden church built. Around 435, he reportedly evangelized Cherbourg, where he is said to have founded the Maison-Dieu asylum around 436, built along the Bucaille stream in Cherbourg; this institution of public generosity lasted until 1053.
