Biography

Eucharius, or Eucaire, is a 4th-century saint from Lorraine who was martyred in Pompey, France. This itinerant bishop bears the prestigious name of the first bishop of Trier, who served around 250. According to legend, he was beheaded on October 22, 362, at the field of tombs, after which he returned to the church in the village of Liverdun carrying his head under his arm. His feast day is celebrated on October 22 in the former diocese of Toul, now Nancy, and on October 27 in the former calendar of Saint-Dié.
