Saint Saint Chaffre

Theofred of Orange or Theofred of Carméri, also known as Saint Chaffre, is the patron saint of Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille in the Haute-Loire department. He was martyred by the Saracens in 732. His feast day is November 18. His legend is loosely inspired by historical elements: Chaffre is the vernacular name for Theofred of Orange, the second abbot of Saint-Pierre du Monastier in the 8th century, as well as symbolic elements such as the account and date of his martyrdom by the Saracens or his association with a soldier of the Theban Legion.
