Biography
Sahak Gratlyan (1867, Sivas, Sivas Province – 1915) was an Armenian pharmacist and a member of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party. Born in 1867 in the city of Sivas, the center of Sivas Province, he received a pharmaceutical education and worked as a pharmacist. He owned his own pharmacy in Sivas, named "Gratlyan," where the pharmacist Grigor Tataryan also worked. From 1880 to 1905, he served for 25 years as the pharmacist at the Sivas National Hospital, where he contributed significantly to the organization of the hospital's pharmacy and medical facilities. Sahak Gratlyan enjoyed the respect and trust of the city's population, particularly among Turkish officials. He was trusted more than any physician, and people frequently sought his advice and treatment. He was a tireless member of the Hunchakian Party. He was killed in 1915 outside of Sivas at the age of 48.
