Saint Probo di Formia
Biography
Saint Probus of Formia was a 4th-century Christian bishop and the second bishop of Formia. A martyr of the Roman Catholic Church, his feast day is celebrated on October 6. Probus became bishop of Formia in 303, succeeding Erasmus. He was the one who buried the body of Erasmus in the necropolis of Formia, at the site where the church of Saint Erasmus was later built. His relics are kept today in the cathedral of Gaeta, which is dedicated to Saint Erasmus and Saint Marcian, the patron saints of the city.
