Blessed Pio Heredia Zubía

Pius (born Julián) Heredia Zubía (Larrea, February 16, 1875 – Santander, December 3, 1936) was a Spanish priest, a Trappist monk, and prior of the Abbey of Viaceli, who was killed by Republicans during the Spanish Civil War. He is the leader of a group of 18 Cistercian martyrs (16 religious from the Abbey of Viaceli in Cóbreces and 2 religious from the Fons Salutis monastery in Algemesí) beatified by Pope Francis in 2015.
