Peter Nguyễn Văn Hiếu (Vietnamese: Phêrô Nguyễn Văn Hiếu) (born c. 1783 in Đồng Chuối, Ninh Bình Province, Vietnam; died April 28, 1840, in Ninh Bình, Vietnam) was a catechist, martyr, and saint of the Catholic Church. Peter Nguyễn Văn Hiếu was born around 1783 in Đồng Chuối. He served as a catechist. In 1837, he was arrested alongside the priest Paul Phạm Khắc Khoan and another catechist, John the Baptist Đinh Văn Thanh. Despite three years of torture, Peter Nguyễn Văn Hiếu could not be persuaded to renounce his faith. They were beheaded on April 28, 1840. His feast day is celebrated in the Catholic Church on the anniversary of his death, and he is commemorated with the group of 117 Vietnamese Martyrs on November 24. He was beatified on May 27, 1900, by Leo XIII and canonized by John Paul II on June 19, 1988, as one of the 117 Vietnamese Martyrs.
