Biography

Peter of Spain, in Italian Pietro Ispano (Andalusia?, 10th century – Boville Ernica, Lazio, 10th century?), was a 10th-century hermit from an unknown place on the Iberian Peninsula, possibly Andalusia. His life is based on very few sources that provide scarce details about him. The figure of the hermit may be real, but it is possible that the account of his origin is later and implausible. The time in which he lived is unknown, but his cult is documented as early as the 12th century; he has been placed around the 10th century, though without certainty.
