Biography

Count Osorio Gutiérrez was a 10th-century figure of medieval Spain who belonged to the Galician nobility and was related to the Astur-Leonese kings. He was the founder of the Monastery of San Salvador de Villanueva (Lugo), where he entered as a monk in the final years of his life. During that time, his contemporaries considered him a holy man, attributing various miracles to him that became more numerous after his death. He married Urraca Núñez, with whom he had three children.
