Saint Marcellino di Ancona

Feast day: January 9

Biography

Marcellinus (Ancona, ... – Ancona, 6th century) was an Italian bishop, venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church. The Roman Martyrology records the legend, handed down in writing by Pope Saint Gregory the Great, according to which the bishop of Ancona saved his city from a fire in the 6th century. The scene is depicted in the Gallery of Maps in the Vatican Museums.
