Biography

Saint Madoc the Pilgrim was the son of Sawyl Penuchel, King of the Peak, and his first wife, who was the daughter of Muiredach Muinderg. He was raised in Ireland at his father's court. He founded the church of Llanmadoc and became abbot of St Davids. At the end of his life, however, he returned to Ireland, where he founded several monasteries.
