Biography
Macarius of Kalyazin (born Matvey Vasilyevich Kozhin; c. 1402 – March 17, 1483) was a Russian religious figure and a saint of the Russian Orthodox Church. The son of a boyar, he founded the Trinity Makaryev Monastery, where he also served as abbot. His body was discovered incorrupt in 1521, and he was canonized in 1547. His unpublished work, Povest' o zhitii, is preserved among the manuscripts of the Volokolamsk Monastery.
