Saint Lupí de Carcassona

851 · Medieval

Biography

Lupus of Carcassonne was an Occitan cleric, likely from Carcassonne, who lived in the mid-9th century. He is venerated as a saint by various Christian denominations. Nothing certain is known about his life. It is said that he was a canon at the Cathedral of Carcassonne under Bishop Liuvila, though this is improbable as the cathedral did not yet exist at that time. His relics are preserved in the same cathedral in a reliquary bust; when it was opened in the 18th century, a parchment was found inside that placed the saint in the year 851.
