Biography
Laudomar (born c. 530, died c. 590 in Chartres) was a saint of the Catholic Church and the founder of the monastery in Corbion (Abbaye de Corbie). According to his biography, written in the 9th century, he was born in the Diocese of Chartres, where he served as a priest. Seeking solitude, he began living as a hermit in the forests near Porche. The influx of disciples led him to build a monastery in Corbion. He died while serving as abbot, and his relics were moved first to Corbion in 595, and later to Blois in 874, where the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Laumer was established in 924. His feast day in the Catholic Church is celebrated on January 19.
