Biography

Lakshmipriya was a Gaudiya Vaishnava saint who lived in Bengal during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. She was the first wife of the Vaishnava saint and religious reformer Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is revered in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition as the combined avatar of Krishna and his female aspect, Radha. After Lakshmipriya died of grief from separation from her husband, Chaitanya married Vishnupriya.
