Blessed Kirill of Velsk
Feast day: June 9
Biography
Kirill of Velsk (also known as Vazhesky or Vazhsky) is an Orthodox saint whose incorrupt relics were discovered near the Velsk churchyard (now the town of Velsk, Arkhangelsk Oblast). According to tradition, Kirill was a deputy steward (tiun) who died by drowning in the Vaga River. After his relics were discovered, numerous miracles were recorded at his tomb. His feast day is celebrated on June 9 (22), as well as on the second Sunday after Pentecost as part of the Synaxis of All Saints who have shone forth in the Russian land.
