Biography

Mochoemoc (died c. 656) was a holy abbot of Leamokevoge. His feast day is March 13. Saint Mochoemoc, also known as Kennoch, Mo-Chaomhog, Pulcherius, or Vulcanius, was born in Munster, Ireland. He was raised by his aunt, Saint Ita (feast day January 15). He studied under Saint Comgall (feast day May 11) at Bangor Abbey in County Down, where he began his monastic life. Saint Comgall sent Saint Kennoch to Arderin to establish a house there. Later, Saint Mochoemoc founded a large monastery at Leamokevoge (also known as Liath-Mochoemoc or Liath-mor) in County Tipperary, around which a large town grew, bearing the saint's name.
