Biography

Karl Serreqi, OFM (born February 2, 1911, in Shkodër; died April 5, 1954, in Burrel Prison), was a Franciscan priest who, in atheist Albania under the Enver Hoxha regime, upheld the seal of the confessional while under torture. He was initially sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment, and subsequently died in prison. He is one of the Thirty-eight Martyrs of Albania.
