Julião Nakaura was born in 1568 in Hizen Province, Japan, to his father, Nakaura Sumiyoshi. A member of the Society of Jesus, he served as a Catholic presbyter and bishop. He died in Nagasaki in 1633 and is recognized as a blessed of the Catholic Church.
