Biography

Juan Pedro Cotillo Fernández, OMI (born May 1, 1914, in Siero de la Reina; died July 24, 1936, in Pozuelo, Madrid), was a Spanish Oblate of the Immaculate Mary. As a theology student, he lived at the Oblate house of studies in Pozuelo. On July 22, 1936, during the Spanish Civil War, he was captured along with his confreres in their monastery and was executed on July 24, 1936, together with six other Oblates. The beatification of the 22 Spanish martyrs of the Oblates, including Juan Pedro Cotillo Fernández, took place on December 17, 2011, at the Cathedral of Madrid.
