Biography

Juan Antonio Pérez Mayo, OMI (born November 18, 1907, in Santa Marina del Rey; died July 24, 1936, in Pozuelo, Madrid), was a Spanish Oblate of Mary Immaculate. He took his first vows in 1927 and was ordained a priest in 1932. He served as a professor of philosophy at the Oblate house of studies in Pozuelo, near Madrid. On July 22, 1936, amidst the religious persecution in Spain, he was captured along with his confreres in their monastery. On July 24, 1936, he was executed alongside six other Oblates. The beatification of the 22 Spanish martyrs of the Oblates, including Juan Antonio Pérez Mayo, took place on December 17, 2011, at the Cathedral of Madrid.
