
Biography
Jean-Baptiste Duverneuil was a priest of the Discalced Carmelites at the house in Angoulême. During the French Revolution, he was arrested and sentenced to deportation to French Guiana. Imprisoned on a ship at the Rochefort pontoons, he died on July 1, 1794. He was beatified by John Paul II as a martyr of the faith on October 1, 1995, along with 63 other priests and religious.
