Biography
José Boher y Foix (born November 2, 1887, in Sant Salvador de Toló, died August 13, 1936, in Salàs de Pallars) was a Spanish priest of the Diocese of Urgell, a Christian martyr, and a blessed of the Roman Catholic Church, one of the six companions of Josep Tàpies i Sirvant. He was ordained a priest in 1914. He was murdered in hatred of the faith, along with six companions from the same diocese, during the persecution of the Church in the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). On October 29, 2005, he was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI. The ceremony took place at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and was presided over by Cardinal José Saraiva Martins. His liturgical memorial is celebrated on August 13.
