Saint Izaak ze Spoleto
Feast day: April 11
Biography
Isaac of Spoleto, also known as Isaac of Monteluco (died c. 550), was a Catholic saint and hermit. A native of Syria, Isaac fled to Spoleto to escape persecution by Monophysite heretics. He gained fame after healing a man suffering from obsession. Having refused to accept gifts, he retired to a hermitage. While living in solitude, he had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which inspired him to establish a community of hermits at the monastery of Monteluco. He was credited with the ability to identify pretenders and evildoers. One of the chapters of the Dialogues of Saint Gregory is dedicated to Saint Isaac. His feast day is celebrated on April 11.
