Biography

Saint Ithier, or Ythier, born in Nogent-sur-Vernisson (Loiret) around 620 and died around 696, was elected Bishop of Nevers in 690 or 691. He was buried in the Church of Saint-Martin and Saint-Ythier in Nogent-sur-Vernisson. His feast day is July 8. He is depicted in a stained-glass window at the Church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine in Montargis, holding his bishop's crosier and accompanied by an inscription reading "born in Nogent, 7th century."
