Biography

Gonzalo Viñes Masip (born January 19, 1883, in Xàtiva, died December 10, 1936) was a blessed of the Catholic Church. He completed secondary school and subsequently entered the seminary in Valencia. In 1906, at the age of 23, he was ordained a priest. He was a historian, poet, researcher, journalist, and writer, and also worked with youth. He was murdered during the Spanish Civil War on December 10, 1936. He was beatified in the group of Joseph Aparicio Sanz and 232 companions by Pope John Paul II on March 11, 2001.
