Servant of God Francisco Pinto

Francisco da Costa Pinto, born in 1552 in Angra, in the Azores, Portugal, and died (assassinated) on January 11, 1608, in the province of Ibiapaba in present-day Brazil (then a Portuguese possession), was a Portuguese Jesuit priest. A missionary to the indigenous populations of Brazil, he died for the Christian faith. He is recognized as a martyr, and the process for his beatification is underway.
