Biography

Francisca Ametzua Ibaibarriaga (Abadiño, March 9, 1881 – El Saler, Valencia, August 19, 1936) was a Carmelite nun. She was born at the Traña-Goti farmhouse in Abadiño. After completing her novitiate in Vitoria, she moved to Oliva to work as a cook at the local school. She was killed during the Spanish Civil War and was recognized as a martyr by the Catholic Church. She was beatified on March 1, 2001.
