Biography

Archbishop Theodore (Theodore of Simonov, born Ioann (Ivan); c. 1340 – November 28, 1394) was a bishop of the Russian Church and Archbishop of Rostov. He was a disciple of Saint Sergius of Radonezh, the founder and first abbot of the Simonov Monastery, a translator, and an iconographer. He is venerated in the Synaxes of Moscow, Radonezh, and Rostov saints. He was canonized as a hierarch.
