Saint Ermenfrid of Cusance

Ermenfroy or Ermenfroi (Ermenfredus in Latin) was a saint of Germanic origin who lived in the 7th century in the Doubs region, where he is particularly venerated. Initially a monk at Luxeuil, he founded the priory of Cusance on the ruins of an ancient convent of nuns, becoming its abbot. Saint Ermenfroy (or Ermenfroi) is the patron saint of plowmen and the village of Santoche; his feast day is September 25.
