Biography

Elias Carbonell Molla (born November 20, 1869, in Cocentaina, Alicante; died October 2, 1936) was a Spanish blessed of the Catholic Church. He was born into a large family; his father was a physician. In 1890, after completing secondary school, he entered the seminary in Valencia. He was ordained a priest in 1893 and served as a confessor to various religious communities. He died at the age of 66 during the Spanish Civil War. On March 11, 2001, Pope John Paul II beatified him as part of the group of José Aparicio Sanz and 232 companions who were murdered during the anti-Catholic persecutions in Spain.
