Biography
Eberhard VI of Nellenburg (born c. 1015; died March 26, 1078/79 or March 1, 1080) succeeded his father Eppo (died 1034) as Count in the Zürichgau, first appearing in records in 1036/37. In 1046/47, he participated in the first Italian campaign of King Henry III, who was crowned emperor in Rome in December 1047. Before 1050, he had Nellenburg Castle built as the family's new ancestral seat and became known as Eberhard I, Count of Nellenburg. Through his founding of the Abbey of All Saints in Schaffhausen, he entered the historical record as a founder in the Schaffhausen Book of Founders.
