Saint Dulcedio de Agen
Feast day: October 17
Biography
Dulcedius, also known as Dulcitius or Dulcidius (died 5th century, Agen), was Bishop of Agen at the beginning of the 5th century and is venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church. Information regarding this holy bishop is scarce. Saint Phoebadius designated Dulcedius to succeed him in the see of Agen, most likely at the beginning of the 5th century. According to the passion of Saint Caprasius and Saint Faith, already known to Ado of Vienne in the 9th century, Dulcedius discovered the relics of the two saints and built a basilica in their honor over their tombs, which is today the Cathedral of Agen. His remains are preserved in the church of Chamberet, currently in the Diocese of Tulle. The modern Roman Martyrology, reformed in accordance with the decrees of the Second Vatican Council, commemorates the holy bishop on October 17 with these words:
