Biography
Saint Disciola was the niece of Saint Salvius, Bishop of Albi. She entered the Abbey of the Holy Cross, founded by Queen Radegund and then led by its first abbess, Saint Agnes of Poitiers, at a very young age. Disciola is remembered as a humble and available nun, beloved for her modesty, the simplicity of her ways, and her attentive observance of her abbey's rule. She died in 583, shortly before Saint Radegund. She is the first saint of the Abbey of the Holy Cross. Her tomb is located in the crypt of the Church of Saint Radegund in Poitiers. The Catholic Church celebrates her feast day on May 13, the same day as Saint Agnes.
