Saint Cymorth
Biography
Cymorth (abbreviated as Corth) was a saint from the late 5th century. It is likely that Cymorth was the daughter or niece of Cynheiddon, a daughter of Brychan Brycheiniog, with whom she collaborated. The 11th-century Vita Brynach calls Cymorth a daughter of Brychan, but as she is not named in the Cognatio, it is probable that she was his granddaughter. Cymorth is referred to as a woman who lived on Mynydd Cymorth (or Gyfor) near Kidwelly, a small town in the modern-day county of Carmarthenshire. The 12th-century Vita Brynach states that Cymorth married Brynach the Irishman, an advisor to Brychan, who is sometimes called a son of Brychan due to this marital connection. They had several children, some of whom—Mabyn, Mynfer, Mwynen, and Endelyn—became saints in Cornwall.
