Biography

Cristóbal Acxotecatl (died 1527) is a Mexican saint. He is known as one of the Child Martyrs of Tlaxcala. He was one of the first Christian martyrs in the Americas. He was sentenced to death by his own father, the cacique Acxotecatl of Atlihuetzia (Viceroyalty of New Spain), for spreading the Christian faith among his subjects. His mother, who tried to protect him, was also murdered. Cristóbal was martyred by fire, and his incorrupt body was transferred to the Cathedral of Tlaxcala one year after his death.
