Biography
Cornelia, also spelled Kornelia, was a martyr of the early Church. According to tradition, she lived in Tunis, North Africa. She suffered martyrdom during the persecutions of Christians around the year 300, together with Anesius, Felix, Theodulus, Portus, Abdas, and Valeria in Carthage or Tunis. Cornelia and her companions are mentioned in the Roman Martyrology. In the Catholic Church, they are venerated as saints. The feast day of Saint Cornelia and her companions in the liturgy is March 31. In Christian iconography, Cornelia is depicted with the attribute of a martyr's palm. Some relics of Saint Cornelia are said to be located in Saint-Malo in Brittany.
