Biography

Cecilio Vega Domínguez, OMI (born September 8, 1913, in Villamor de Órbigo; died July 24, 1936, in Pozuelo, Madrid) was a Spanish Oblate of the Immaculate Mary. He made his first vows on August 15, 1931, and his perpetual vows in 1934. He was a theology student and had already received the subdiaconate. On July 22, 1936, amidst the religious persecution in Spain, he was captured along with his confreres in their monastery and executed on July 24, 1936, together with six other Oblates. The beatification of the 22 Spanish martyrs of the Oblates, including Cecilio Vega Domínguez, took place on December 17, 2011, at the Cathedral of Madrid.
