Biography

Carpoforus, Exanthus, Cassius, Severinus, Secundus, and Licinius were, according to legend, six Roman soldiers of the Theban Legion martyred during the reign of Emperor Maximian. Condemned to death for refusing to sacrifice to the Roman gods, they reportedly attempted to flee toward the Alps but were overtaken and captured. They were executed in Como around 303–305.
