Christian Charles Joseph Lemarchand (in religion Father Bruno), born on March 1, 1930, in Saint-Maixent-l'École (Deux-Sèvres) and died (assassinated) after April 20, 1996, in Algeria, was a French Trappist monk of the Abbey of Notre-Dame de l'Atlas in Tibhirine who, along with six fellow monks, was kidnapped and murdered under circumstances that remain unclear. The cause for his potential beatification was opened in 2007 in the Diocese of Algiers and led to his proclamation as Blessed on December 8, 2018.
